Native Realty CEO Jaime Sturgis was invited to be a guest on Florida Business Minds, a podcast produced by the parent company of South Florida Business Journal. SFBJ editor Mel Melendez interviewed Sturgis about a wide variety of topics, including Native’s origin story, adaptive reuse in South Florida’s urban core neighborhoods, the region’s real estate outlook and what Sturgis is most excited about in 2025.
“When I graduated from college and I moved back to South Florida from Tallahassee, I realized that all of my friends were moving elsewhere across the country,” Sturgis told Melendez. “And I tried to figure out why. And it really came down to arts and culture. At the time, South Florida didn’t have much in the way of that, so people were moving to New York or Chicago or L.A. I started to look at how we could change that, and began focusing on emerging neighborhoods. Wynwood was where it all started, as we saw the combination of arts and culture bind together to create something really special. And there’s been a number of emerging neighborhoods that we’ve been able to help develop since then.”
Sponsored by TECO People’s Gas, Florida Business Minds features candid conversations with business leaders from the South Florida, Orlando, Tampa Bay and Jacksonville regions.
